[ The panic Dorian had felt when he'd woken up alone in a strange room hadn't entirely subsided, but the presence of the Tavernkeeper somehow calms him a bit, at least enough that he is at least willing to take a breath and listen as questions are asked.
Unfortunately the answers aren't necessarily that reassuring. And it isn't like he's entirely new to helping save a world on the brink of disaster either, but he isn't really thrilled about having been pulled away from home for it. It turns out gods weren't the only ones to interfere with people's lives, it seems.
Still, he tries to soothe his anger with the reminder that this had apparently been a call for help, and if he was stuck here he could at least try to do what he can to assist. And currently the drink he'd been given by the Tavernkeeper, something he doesn't quite remember the name of, is at least helping improve his mood significantly.
Honestly, as he takes another sip, he's strangely feeling in higher spirits about everything. ]
Lightwalking
[ While Dorian isn't entirely familiar with the exact traditions of this Season of Lights, he can't help feeling a bit nostalgic as he takes his time wandering the streets at night, admiring the lanterns that glow against the darkened sky. He finds himself thinking back to his childhood in the Squall, of the lanterns that were often released into the sky during celebrations and festivities.
And seeing the glimmering lights spread all throughout the land, sky, and sea, it certainly achieved the desired effect of making the three realms seem unified. Dorian was a bit surprised to find himself enjoying the event, listening to the uplifting stories and even learning some of the carols.
It was a good reminder of remaining optimistic, and the promise of a better future. ]
The Grand Masquerade
[ Now this is certainly something that Dorian can be excited about. With everything happening back home, there understandably was no longer time for anything as impractical as a masquerade or a ball. But Dorian certainly missed those times, when things were a little easier and the world wasn't on the verge of ending. Times when it he didn't have to feel guilty about having a bit of fun and enjoying himself.
And unlike the last time he had attended a ball, this time he wasn't restricted to having to fit any kind of role, and was allowed to simply just be himself. While his new outfit wasn't at all as gossamer as some previous outfits he's had, it was still showy while still feeling regal and comfortable. He also enjoys the mask that he had been able to find, something simple but still decorative, and even managing to display his musical interest.
Overall, a perfect outfit to represent himself. ]
