I want to do what's right. Finnick is incredibly jaded by his own experiences, so the sentiment strikes him as naive, despite the fact that Finnick is actually doing it for the exact same reason. In fact, there is no reward for him now, since he already claimed his Bones for this quest. Perhaps he just hasn't... Admitted his own reasoning to himself yet, because he doesn't think of himself as any sort of hero. He feels more like he just has to do this without really examining why.
