It looks like it slipped off - it isn't ripped or otherwise damaged as far as he can tell. The worst part is that it very easily fits in his palm. Verity brushes his thumb along the edge of the sole and looks over at Winslow.
"The little tracks here don't indicate that whoever lost this was running or struggling, you're right," he says with a small frown. "I'd say it was left as a sign but I don't know if someone who's young enough to fit this would think of that."
