Oh Solas, as if Rook being involved ever ever meant less disaster. He doesn't do it on purpose, but this elf is pretty much a magnet for it.
It stings, that accusation flung. True enough for him, enough to have guilt in the grimace that it wins. But he seems to rally, to shake it off and square up in some subtle manner.

Definitely unsettling to think about, to speak about, but Solas had a fair point and in his opinion, deserved some sort of answer. "I didn't think you were a monster. I still don't. And whatever anyone else thought, I wasn't planning on leaving you in that place."
It would be easy enough to think them mere pretty words offered to soothe tempers and avoid trouble down the line, but there was a sincerity that ran through it all, a hard thing to fake for even the finest of actors.
"This whole... thing isn't my wheelhouse. Traps, tricks, manipulations, things like that. I took advice that I hold off on telling you what I was hoping to do when all was said and done," He huffed a slow breath, brows drawing faintly. "It might've been a sensible call for the situation, but it was pretty shitty of me regardless to do that to you. You're not him, and I'm not them, but I am sorry, whatever that's worth here and now."
