"Forgive me, I would never use those words cruelly against anyone," Halsin vows softly with a shake of his head. "And I won't use them if they hurt you. I would never wish to see you in pain or uncomfortable."

"I would happily be a spider with you sometime, though my form is usually larger." He chuckles. "But feel free to change into one around me whenever you wish."

It would be easier to cling to such easier topics and talk about what forms they like to take or why. But the offer touches him as he rubs his fingers gently between Loki's ears, thinking for a moment. "Speaking of brutal and cruel, there was a man back in my world who had once been a devout follower of Selûne until the loss of his wife and daughter drove him mad with grief. He turned from his beliefs, becoming twisted as he gave into a type of darkness and started to follow a different goddess, Shar. She compelled him to create an army of Dark Justicars, terrorizing and killing the people in a town called Reithwin and the surrounding area."

"Eventually, we moved against him. It was a bloody battle, one that we won, but then a shadow curse was unleashed on the land. Everything and nearly everyone caught in it was killed or twisted into some unnatural thing. The Archdruid before me stayed behind, ordering me to take the remaining druids and run." He pauses, staring off into the distance. "I dedicated my life to figuring out how to lift the curse. To also save a longtime friend of mine who had been caught in it too, the spirit of the land who had taken form and befriended me as a child."

"We eventually did lift the curse not long before I came here." He turns his gaze back to Loki with a small smile. Except it is clear that some of the memories still haunt him, perhaps a sense of failure at having been unable to stop the shadow curse in the first place and all the damage it had done. "I know it's foolish to be bothered by the sight of the new god but..."
