It's... interesting to watch Viktor perk up and come alive as he talks about his work. Rolan can't help but smile as he talks, his head tipping to the side as he listens to Viktor's charming accent. It reminds him of the Rashemen accent, except of course, Viktor wasn't from his world.
And of course, the problem all comes down to politics, doesn't it? It's easy for Rolan to say things like, "distribute the means of the production to the masses," but he doesn't really know how difficult it is to obtain the necessary crystals or how difficult it is to work them into a stable form.
Besides, they're both stuck here for the foreseeable future, so it's not exactly as if the problem is quite as relevant as it once was.
"Well, if nothing else, you'll have plenty of time to think things over while you're here," Rolan sighs, leaning his cheek against the palm of his hand. "Maybe you'll even be able to research new approaches to the technology based on the magic system and resources available here. Perhaps I could even assist you...?"
