Sipping his drink with only the slightest grimace, Rolan listens to Viktor speak and nods along with his words. He understands where Viktor is coming from, and it mirrors many of his own thoughts on the subject of power and responsibility.
"The one who inhabited Ramazith's Tower before me," he begins, carefully piecing his thoughts together while his tail swings in a slow pendulum behind him. "He adored power and would use any method at his disposal to attain it, even going so far as to try and trap an immortal Aasimar so that he could siphon her lifeforce to extend his own."
That discovery, along with the many correspondences between Loroakkan and leaders of the Absolute plot, still rang ominously in his mind. How Rolan had worshiped the man, and how close he came to following in his footsteps unsettled him.
"There are a lot of magical item in the tower's vaults," he continues, swallowing past the doubt that threatened to creep in. "A lot of books, as well. Some of them old, some of them dangerous, and suddenly, they were all in my possession. Suddenly, they were all my responsibility."
"When I took over, I decided I wouldn't keep such knowledge to myself," he asserts, looking up to meet Viktor eyes. "Some things would need to be locked away for the safety of the city, yes, but everything that I could share with the people, I would. The library is now open to the public, and before I was brought here, I was considering hosting free lectures and classes for those who wished to learn."
"I think if you want to minimize the abuse of your Hextech by those in power, the best thing you can do is to teach as many people to use it as possible. Put it in the hands of the common folk, so that they can use it to defend themselves from those who would take advantage of them."
