He nods. "Mind you, sudden disasters are par for the course for this world, so even the sky may not be safe for long, but there's going to be less construction going on there for the next month or so, I'll wager. It's a pretty place."

"...though it's a long way from the Underworld, I suppose." His smile turns sympathetic. "I grew up by the ocean, with frequent forays into space. Very little is odd to me."

He clasps his hands behind his back and looks at the ground as he answers, as if that helps him to collect his thoughts. "Some part of me feels those of us of divine origins should rank with our hosts. It feels like an insult. And yet I don't think it's intended that way. The longer we're here, the more I think they're genuinely grasping at straws."

"But that begs a lot of questions, too, such as why the power to reach across planes is more accessible to them than the power to hold this world together."

"So, I don't know. It feels like being forcibly demoted, and yet it's nice to be able to talk to humans and others, spend time as a companion and partner, rather than someone they ought to worship or fear. I find myself questioning a lot of my own past, thanks to this. But maybe that's good for me."
