Barcus promised not to exhaust himself doing clean-up and repair work around town, and he's more or less stuck to his word. Or, at least to the letter of his word. He's certainly kept busy in the last couple weeks, flitting between Grey Ward and Salt Spire to help with repair projects. He's made a point of retreating to eat and rest every night, though, convinced that Bel and Satchel, at least, would notice if he didn't, and they'd likely recruit the rest of his friends to lock him in his bedroom, if necessary.
So he hasn't exactly been overdoing it physically, but he may be slightly overwrought, grieving in the face of losses and aware that no matter how many bridges he rebuilds, there are things and people that cannot be replaced.
He's taken aback by the celebration, but several of the Calderans he's been working with take it upon themselves to bully him gently into attending, and an evening in Grey Ward finds him wandering beneath the lanterns, with Satchel on a leash trotting at his heels. The first gift pushed into his hands is a carved wooden cat, which is fitting, and he marvels over it, appropriately appreciative. Then there's another present, a young woman bringing him a glass of cider and an apple turnover. Another girl brings him a glass orb that glimmers in his palm; she threads it on a ribbon and ties it around Satchel's collar like a bell. Then there's a carved stone box from the grandson of the smoke shop proprietor, a handful of flowers, a small pickaxe from one of the people he and Ashton saved from the collapse of a cliff...
It's a little overwhelming, and Barcus isn't exactly used to this kind of appreciation. At some point something gives, and he ends up sitting at one of the tables with Satchel in his lap, crying like a child out of sheer excess of emotion.
Astral Echoes
It only makes sense for him to attempt the search for the shard in Ignacia's Cradle. He has the heat-resistant armor, still, and he's been through several of the passages already. For once in his life, though, it occurs to him to actually reach out to a friend to accompany him, rather than step out alone and hope to bump into someone useful on the way.
"You're definitely going to want extra water," he tells his companion. "There are plenty of places you can walk around without actively getting burns, but you're bound to get dehydrated, trust me."
((If you've got previous CR with Barcus, just assume he messaged you via bird to ask for help on this. If you're a new player, we can handwave them having met, or they can just have bumped into one another at the celebration or something.))
Questboard/Wildcard
((Open to any of the quests, although double-check before the NSFW quests if we don't already have CR. PM me with questions or reach me on discord at WugglyUmp))
