It was just the simple matter fact that Sam saw the world. There were things that needed to be done, and there was no sense in putty them off when you needed to get them done. He didn't have delusions of grandeur or dreams of things beyond a simple life in his home.
"That's kind of you to offer. And I'm not too familiar with what a drow might be, but if it's alright with the two of you I might take you up on it just long enough to find a place of my own. Just so that I might have a chance to get settled a bit more."
