Drawing in a breath and then another like she was filling her lungs with air, she waited for the second it started to shift to spring forward before she opened her mouth and loosed a scream. Not just a scream but a bloodcurdling wail focused on the beast who staggered as though it were being hit over and over, causing it to stagger as it looked stunned.

It still looked stunned as her scream trailed off, stumbling to the side as it stared at her like it couldn't make sense of what was going on.
