The way he eases off, the pause before speaking, giving her a breath to recenter— yeah, he knows what he's doing. Even knowing she's subject to that, to the manipulative, helpful nature of that doesn't stop it from working. If it had been anyone else, it would've put her hackles up, but— well. He isn't anyone else.

"I don't need help to do chores, Odair," She grouses, and good humor turns the sneer into something comradely, rather than sarcastic, "I'll think about it."
