Gadriel had learned to count on nothing when it came to the future. The next day's sun might be someone else's to see. So when/if she decided that none of this had ever happened, he would accept it, as he had accepted Lydia's explanation.

Her mouth was warm, soft and somehow insistent against his throat, and the gentle brush of the fringes of her hair sent little shivers through him. He wondered what it would feel like on bare skin, and almost asked her, but then her hand brushed along his belly, under the part his plastron usually covered, and his whole body seemed to tense and quiver and any thought he might have had slipped out of his head and the only sound that came out was a tight sounding moan.
