The sad thing was that this wasn't even the worst attack she would face as she'd had multiple people try to kill her since. Maybe none of the violence would shock him but she didn't want him to see those either.

But this was the start of it all, the first attack that had changed everything in her world and revealed her to the monsters. She hated now that the memory would echo in his head though perhaps she would be lucky enough to he would let it go quickly. But also how could she convince him that she was okay or that she was capable of taking care of herself when he had seen that?

She knew there was nothing easy to say and she was almost relieved when he did nothing but reach out for her. It was easy to reach back, to take his hand and let him pull her close against his side. She normally liked to stand on her own two feet but there was something about Gadriel that made her want to curl up on or beside him which was exactly what she was going to do. She tucked herself against his side, sliding an arm around his middle as she stared at the water with a frown.
