"Too right," Lulu concurred. "Why, I can still remember the days where I set my sights on the unattainable! It's the 'challenge', you see. For some, it's about the prize, but for most it's defiance. The, 'why CAN'T I date a selkie? Maybe I'm different from the rest'."
"Hmm. Well, again, it's been out of my hands for some time. I'm the one that calls it a night and has to practically peel them away from the girls."
The demon nodded. "They'll thank you for it later. ...Say, do you think you could call Draven down for a talk? He seems to be having a tough time."
"Huh?" The man turned. Sighed. The boy was something of a quiet space case, but today he just seemed to be especially absent-minded. Was he ill? "I'm so sorry about this, gentlemen-"
Then he turned fully. "Draven! Front and center."
The young man startled in his spot, but quickly acquiesced. He moved to join the group standing on the dock. "Dad? What's- what's going on?"
"Just talking about our monthly visitors," Grey answered. "The ones you stayed up well past lights-out for last night."
Draven's face turned colors.
"Up late with Miss Brienna again?" Grey asked with a chuckle. The boy really was hopeless sometimes.

Colors? What colors? Draven's face turned pale.
