lost_and_foundry: (if we should meet again)

A dream is an angle that Barcus had not yet considered. Neither pure magic nor the quirks of the mind are fully within his wheelhouse; the spiritual aspects of alchemy are about as esoteric as he gets. He's a craftsman and to some small degree a diplomat, not a mage. Still, the suggestion strikes him immediately as plausible.

"A dream, or an immense illusion, maybe," he agrees with a thoughtful frown. "I'm not sure how one would test that hypothesis."

His handclasp is firm, maybe more so than one would expect from such a small person, and he does recognize the calluses of a fighter. His own are very different, the marks of a miner, an artisan, and someone who's acquainted with the forge. "Well met, Solas, and thank you for your charitable conclusion with respect to my mind."

Flattery? Maybe, but collaboration often begins with that sort of thing; feeling out strengths and weaknesses, learning what exactly someone else may be good for. "I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you're not from Faerûn. Few from my world would anticipate danger of any kind from a gnome."

The more fool they, really. The Ironhands certainly made a nuisance of themselves in the face of a ruthless dictator. "But for whatever it's worth, I feel it's important to share such information as I have with those who want it. The more minds we have working at the problem, the more likely it is that someone will come to a useful conclusion. If there's anything you'd like to know, feel free to ask."
