Every so often however, as now, he is reminded, and a pit of grief yawns open inside him once more. But it is something at least, that he is able to breathe through the ache and blink away the threat of tears.
In all likelihood, he had depended too heavily on Terence; such that now, a year from thirty summers, he still has not yet learned how to stand on his own. He relies on Joshua now- and without him, suspects he would find himself to be as wretchedly weak and self-destructive as he had been those first few moons, until darkness swallow him.
"Trust me," he assures with a hand placed gently over Joshua's. "You have done plenty."
