{{Since I lost the plot in November, I've retroactively canon updated my boy. He's been gone the last week or two of the month, and this is his inglorious return! He's now from the end of the second movie, meaning he's suffered a tremendous amount of abuse and loss, content warnings for death, torture, and military abuse/brutality. He's also changing factions, so John is now Sylph. :D}}
Arrival
When he wakes up, he's not in the straw bed of the stable the kind old Thai couple offered him for the night in exchange for fixing a broken wagon wheel the day before. He's in...a pretty familiar bed. With a pretty familiar note...
He worried that he was losing his damn mind--but it was real. All of it.
Heading downstairs this time, he's less nervous, and just...he's tired. Tired and messed up and just fucking done.
He doesn't accept a drink this time. He just finds a table, and for a good couple hours, he just...
...tries, and fails, to find any tears left. Which hurts.
Co deserves better.
Choose Your Destiny
When he comes to the portals, he's ready to go back through the one to take him back to what he thought of as home...but the breeze of that brighter portal tickles his skin, the rainbows catch his eye, and his heart aches with a longing so sharp he can't stand it...
He's gone through it before he can stop himself--and when he finds himself among the clouds, he ends up with a heavy, rounded triangular pendant with an opal set in the middle that reminds him with painful intensity of the weight of Co's Buddha resting against the hollow of his throat.
After that...it's no different from home. He takes lodgings among the brothels and casinos in the seedy end of Heaven's Bow. He briefly returns to Grey Ward to find Delmar--and, of course, Delmar finds him. There's a few tears, then--apparently, there's room for a grim sort of joy, and he can spare a few for that as Delmar nuzzles his face and forces John to carry him around for the remainder of the day.
And he does--the new denizen of Heaven's Bow can be seen walking its streets later, draped in what looks like a fluffy fur stole until one gets close enough to realize the stole is a longhaired black cat roughly the size of a young panther, curled around John Rambo's shoulders like he was born there.
Masquerade/The Challenges
The suit and mask provided by their hosts rankles a little...but not so much that he can't cope.
He's getting entirely too good at compartmentalizing.
John's also not very interested in celebrating a fucking thing, so he keeps to himself mostly. Doesn't eat or drink, that much he still can't get a handle on...but the various corners of the party provide him with a decent distraction.
So he'll be doing all three--feel free to catch him anywhere to...well. Catch up.
