The concept that the events after they saved the Dalish simply hadn't happened weren't unreasonable, given what he had heard around town and from the Tavernkeeper. That knowledge did not negate what Lucanis had just said to her though — the look in his eyes and the relief in his voice undeniable. He had lost her for a time, and he did not know when and if he would see her again and all he wanted to do was hold her.
Instead he had held a blade to her throat.
"Mierda..." he cursed. "I'm — I'm not sure what to say without sounding like a madman. But that was... some time ago. Nearly a month before I arrived here, the last time I had seen you was after I plunged that damned dagger into Ghilan'nain. You tried to pry it free as she died, to keep the Fade from ripping open, and when you did you were suddenly..." He swallowed, his voice lowering. "Gone."
